MANILA — Deviating from her usual tough persona, Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte has now shown her soft side as she spread holiday cheers to children during a recent visit to Tarlac province.
Inday Sara — as VP Duterte is fondly called — played Santa Claus for the day as she presented early holiday gifts to the kids as well as gleefully read a Christmas story for them.
“Nakakataba ng puso at masaya ako na makasama muli ang mga kabataan sa ibat-ibang komunidad sa Tarlac City noong Sabado sa pagdiriwing ng 16th Belenismo sa Tarlac, isang pagdiriwang na nagdadala ng pag-asa at inspirasyon,” VP Duterte wrote on Facebook.
The country’s second-highest official added that she opened up about her joyous experience of spending time with the children, saying Christmas is truly for the young ones.
“Ako ay inatasang maging story teller ng isang kwento na pinamagatang ‘Ang Kwento ng Candy Cane.’ Ang kwento ng candy cane ay isang pagpapaalala ng pagmamahal ni Kristo sa atin tuwing Kapaskuhan,” she said.
VP Duterte was in Tarlac to attend the launch of the festive Belenismo event last week.
