MANILA – Two weather systems are set to bring rain over several parts of the Philippines, according to the weather bureau on Monday (17 Mar 2025)

The easterlies will cause scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Caraga, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi. Meanwhile, rains associated with the northeast monsoon will affect Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, and Aurora.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned that moderate to heavy rainfall in these areas could lead to flash floods or landslides.

Isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon are also expected in the Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Region, and the rest of Cagayan Valley.

Elsewhere in the country, the easterlies will bring isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

Additionally, strong to gale-force winds and rough to very rough seas are forecast for Northern Luzon. Central Luzon will experience moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas, while other areas will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.

As of 2 a.m., PAGASA reported that no low-pressure area was being monitored for possible tropical cyclone development. ia/mnm
