MANILA – Three active weather systems are expected to bring widespread rains across the country this Wednesday (15 Jan 2025), according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In its latest forecast, PAGASA warned that the easterlies and shear line will bring moderate to heavy rainfall to areas including Sarangani, South Cotabato, Davao Oriental, and Davao Occidental. Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected to affect Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Davao Region, and Soccsksargen due to the easterlies.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon or “amihan” will bring rains to Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera Region, Bicol Region, Aurora, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon. These areas could experience moderate to heavy rains, which may lead to flash floods or landslides.

The rest of Luzon is likely to experience isolated light rains, while other parts of the country will see scattered rain showers triggered by the easterlies.

Additionally, PAGASA advised that Northern and Central Luzon, as well as the eastern sections of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, will experience moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters. Elsewhere, light to moderate winds are expected, with seas remaining slight to moderate.

No low-pressure area has been monitored, and no tropical cyclone formation is currently anticipated.
