MANILA – Three weather systems are set to bring rain across most parts of the country on Thursday (20 Feb 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported.

The shear line will bring scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms to the Visayas, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Caraga, Laguna, Rizal, and Quezon. It is expected to cause heavy to intense rainfall over Northern and Eastern Samar, with moderate to heavy rains in Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, Samar, Biliran, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Dinagat Islands, and Surigao del Norte.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon (“amihan”) will bring rain to Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera Administrative Region, and Aurora.

The heavy rains in affected areas could lead to flash floods and landslides. Elsewhere in Luzon, light rains will occur due to the northeast monsoon, while other parts of the country will see isolated rain showers or thunderstorms brought on by the easterlies.

PAGASA also forecasted strong winds and rough seas in northern and eastern Luzon. Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas are expected in other parts of Luzon, and the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao. Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas are forecast over the rest of the country.

As of 2 a.m., no low pressure area was being monitored for possible tropical cyclone formation.
