MANILA – Three distinct weather systems are expected to cause rains in various parts of the Philippines on Friday (13 Dec 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported.

Southern Mindanao: The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will bring scattered rains and thunderstorms, particularly in Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.

Bicol Region and Quezon: The easterlies will trigger similar weather conditions in these areas.

Northern and Central Luzon: The northeast monsoon (“amihan”) will result in light rains over Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, and Ifugao, with isolated rains likely in Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, and the rest of the Cordillera Administrative Region.

PAGASA warned of possible flash floods and landslides in areas experiencing moderate to heavy rainfall.

The rest of the country will see isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies.

Marine Conditions

Moderate to strong winds with moderate to rough seas are forecast in Northern Luzon.

Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters are expected elsewhere.

No low-pressure areas are currently being monitored for potential cyclone development.
