MANILA — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported Wednesday that Tropical Depression Querubin and the shearline will bring widespread rains to the Visayas and Mindanao.
Davao Oriental remains under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 and will continue to experience rains with gusty winds. As of 4 a.m., Querubin was located 230 km east of Davao City or 205 km east of Tagum City, Davao del Norte, packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kph and gusts of up to 55 kph.
PAGASA forecasts scattered rains and thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and the Davao Region. The shearline will also cause similar weather in the Bicol Region and Quezon. The rest of the Visayas and Mindanao will be affected by Querubin’s trough.
Heavy to Intense Rains Forecast
Heavy to intense rainfall is expected over Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Davao Oriental. Moderate to heavy rains will affect the Bicol Region, Quezon, Samar, Biliran, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Cebu, Bohol, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Misamis Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao del Norte.
Querubin is predicted to weaken into a low-pressure area (LPA) within 24 hours, potentially traversing Mindanao, the Sulu Sea, and Palawan from Thursday through Sunday.
PAGASA also warned of possible redevelopment into a tropical depression once the remnant low reaches the West Philippine Sea.
Moderate to strong winds and rough coastal waters will affect the northern, eastern, and western sections of the country, while light to moderate winds with slight to moderate seas will prevail elsewhere.
