MANILA — Clear skies and humid conditions are set to dominate the Philippines on Friday, according to the latest update from the weather bureau.
Aldczar Aurelio, a forecaster from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), mentioned that nearly every part of the country can expect cloudless skies, with no signs of weather disturbances within the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
Humidity is anticipated to persist from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with temperatures climbing to 38°C in Tuguegarao, 35°C in both Metro Manila and Davao, and 34°C in various areas including the Kalayaan Islands, Puerto Princesa, and Zamboanga.
However, Aurelio cautioned about high heat indices ranging from 42°C to 44°C, indicating dangerous levels, particularly in specific locations like Dagupan City, Tuguegarao City, and Puerto Princesa City. These levels can lead to heat-related illnesses such as heat cramps, exhaustion, and even heat stroke.
Despite the scorching temperatures, localized thunderstorms may still occur, particularly in the Visayas and Mindanao regions, resulting in isolated rain showers.
Nevertheless, the prevailing conditions across the archipelago are expected to feature light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.
So, while the skies may be clear, it’s essential to stay mindful of the heat and take necessary precautions to stay safe and healthy.
