Government officials, including House Speaker Martin Romualdez, ACT-CIS Partylist Representative Erwin Tulfo, Bureau of Customs Chief Bienvenido Rubio, and Alvin Enciso from Customs Intelligence, conducted surprise inspections on rice mills and warehouses in Bocaue, Bulacan on August 24, 2023. This action was taken due to a shortage in rice supply.
The Bureau of Customs ordered the temporary closure of one warehouse and required two other warehouses to provide proper receipts and documents before resuming their operations.
