MANILA – The shear line and the northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan,” will continue to bring rainy weather over parts of Luzon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported early Saturday (04 Jan 2025).
In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA stated that the shear line will cause cloudy skies with rain over Batanes, the northernmost province of the country.
The northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms across Central Luzon, the Ilocos Region, the Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Cagayan Valley. PAGASA warned that moderate to heavy rains in these areas could lead to flash floods or landslides.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the Philippines can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized weather disturbances.
Extreme Northern Luzon will experience strong to gale-force winds, resulting in moderate to rough sea conditions. Elsewhere in Northern Luzon and the eastern parts of Central Luzon, moderate to strong winds and moderate coastal waters are expected.
For the rest of the archipelago, light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas will prevail.
Residents are advised to stay vigilant and monitor updates from PAGASA for potential hazards, especially in areas prone to flooding and landslides.
