MANILA – The shear line, northeast monsoon (or “amihan”), and the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will continue to affect many areas of the Philippines, according to the weather bureau on Saturday (28 Dec 2024).
In its early morning bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that the shear line will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over Mainland Cagayan, Apayao, Isabela, Aurora, and Quezon.
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon will cause cloudy skies with rain over Batanes and the Babuyan Islands.
The “amihan” will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over the Ilocos Region, as well as the rest of Cagayan Valley and the Cordillera Administrative Region.
The ITCZ, on the other hand, is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over the Visayas, Caraga, Davao Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Bicol Region, and Mimaropa.
It will also cause partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the rest of Mindanao.
Metro Manila
In Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, skies will be partly cloudy to cloudy, with the possibility of isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.
Strong to gale-force winds and rough to very rough seas are forecast for Northern Luzon, while the eastern section of the country will experience moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas.
The rest of the country will see light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.
