THE Antipolo City Police said that the alleged slap of his teacher was not the cause of death of 14-year-old student Francis Gumikib.
The Philippine National Police’s Forensic Group said that a rare condition cause the boy’s brain to bleed, leading to his death.
During the autopsy and histopathological examination of Gumikib’s remains, experts noted the swelling and bleeding in his brain.
PNP-FG medicolegal chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Maria Analiza dela Cruz said that “intracerebral hemorrhage and edema” was the cause of student’s death.
“At first it is asymptomatic tapos bigla na lang po. Fragile po itong mga ugat na iyon na it can rupture or burst spontaneously. In other cases naman po, meron pong tension on that particular anomaly doon sa utak,” the police said.
The police said that experts have explained to Gumikib’s family the results of the examination of the teenager’s remains.
The teacher will no longer be charged with homicide but the police are considering filing a case of child abuse.
