MANILA – The Philippines will continue to experience rainy weather due to the combined effects of the shear line, the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), and the northeast monsoon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Saturday (11 Jan 2025).
In its early morning bulletin, PAGASA forecasted cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms for the Visayas, Bicol Region, and Mimaropa due to the shear line. These areas may experience moderate to heavy rainfall, which could lead to flash floods or landslides.
The ITCZ will bring similar conditions to the Davao Region and Soccsksargen, while the northeast monsoon will cause cloudy skies and rains over Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera region, Aurora, and Quezon.
Other parts of Mindanao can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. Meanwhile, Metro Manila and most of the country will see partly cloudy skies with isolated light rains.
Strong to gale-force winds and rough seas are forecasted for Northern Luzon and the eastern parts of Central and Southern Luzon. The rest of Luzon and the Visayas will experience moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas, while the rest of the archipelago will have light to moderate winds with slight to moderate seas.
PAGASA advises the public to stay alert for possible weather-related hazards.
