The Philippines can expect isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms, according to the weather bureau’s forecast Thursday.

The northeast monsoon, known as “amihan,” will bring about isolated light rainfall in areas such as the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and Central Luzon.

Patrick del Mundo, a forecaster from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), mentioned that Metro Manila and other parts of the country should anticipate sporadic rain showers, primarily in the afternoon or evening.

In Northern Luzon, moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will persist. In other regions, winds will be light to moderate, and seas will be slight to moderate.

Del Mundo also noted that the cloud clusters located outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility have a low probability of developing into a tropical cyclone in the next few hours.
